Special Issue “Coordination and Knowledge Engineering”
The Knowledge Engineering Review, 04/03/2002–31/08/2002

Since 1998, the Special Track on Coordination Models, Languages and Applications at the annual ACM Symposium on Applied Computing (SAC) is a major forum for researchers and developers in the coordination field. It deliberately takes a broad view on coordination to stimulate cross-fertilization among different disciplines. Since its beginning, it has attracted more than 100 high quality papers from different disciplines, including software engineering, intelligent systems, agent technologies, internet applications, multi-databases, and parallel and distributed computing.
This special issue contains selected contributions from the fifth edition of the Coordination Track at SAC 2002, held in Madrid (Spain) from March 11th to 14th. The papers have been chosen based on their quality, and their relevance to the topic of KER as well. All of them have been extended and thoroughly revised based on the comments of several independent reviewers and in accordance with the aims and scope of KER.
